How to give information

If you have information on someone featured within Most Wanted – Caribbean, Bermuda & Latin America you can contact the relevant Crime Stoppers program anonymously. Each appeal on the website states the contact information for the relevant Crime Stoppers program. For example, if an appeal is about a criminal wanted by the Jamaican authorities, the contact details for Crime Stoppers Jamaica will be displayed where it says ‘Recognize this person?’

You can choose to either phone Crime Stoppers on the phone number displayed on the Most Wanted appeal, or fill out the secure and encrypted online ‘giving information form’ (by clicking on the button ‘Give information anonymously online now’). Remember that both routes are anonymous. This means that you will not be asked for your name and other contact details and your phone call or online form cannot be traced. Read more about anonymity.

Alternatively if you are happy to make a statement to the police, you can find their contact details at the bottom of each appeal, where it says ‘If you would like to speak to the police directly’.

What is the phone number for Crime Stoppers?
Each Crime Stoppers program has a different phone number, depending on which country you are in. The phone number is displayed on each Most Wanted appeal, where is says ‘Recognize this person?’ You can also find the phone numbers for the Crime Stoppers programs in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Latin America in the ‘In your area’ section.

What happens to my information?
After your call or online form submission, we create a report that brings together all the information you told us. Our specially trained coordinators will check that the report contains no information that might identify you.
The report is sent to the relevant police force, who will deal with the information. They have the legal responsibility to investigate crimes, make arrests and charge people in order to bring them to justice.
The police have to thoroughly research the information you give us in order to act on it. This ensures that information is correct and not given to us maliciously in order to set someone up. The police cannot make an arrest based solely on anonymous information – there needs to be other intelligence that supports Crime Stoppers' information. Once the information has been researched, the police will allocate this to an appropriate officer or team to deal with. This could mean more research or action may be taken.

Nothing happened after I gave information to Crime Stoppers. Why?
It may take some time for the police to act on the information you have given. There may be many reasons for this - the information may be crucial to a larger investigation and an action may take place much later on, or the information may remain on file helping to solve crime at a later date. So even if you don't see a quick resolution, don't think your information hasn't been of use to Crime Stoppers.

Can I get a reward?
Rewards are not available if you give information online. You may be able to receive one if you contact Crime Stoppers by phone. When you speak to your local Crime Stoppers program, ask them about getting a reward.
